PhD Opportunities at Imperial College London

I will join Imperial College London in September 2026 to work on Human-Centric Physical Intelligence: visual and embodied AI systems that understand people, reason about 3D structure and motion, and operate in the physical world.

Research direction

The group will connect computer vision, learning, geometry, control, and human movement. We are interested in systems that move beyond recognizing pixels: reconstructing humans in 3D, learning models of motion and interaction, and grounding intelligence in physically meaningful representations.

This creates opportunities across human-centred perception, simulation, robotics, and augmented reality.

Who should apply

I am looking for PhD students who want to work across disciplinary boundaries and turn ideas into robust computational systems. A strong fit may come from computer vision, machine learning, robotics, graphics, control, mathematics, or a related area.

  • Curiosity about 3D structure, motion, and the physical world.
  • Comfort combining theory, models, data, and experiments.
  • An interest in human-centred problems and real-world impact.

How to apply

Please apply through the Imperial College London Department of Computing PhD scholarship process. In your application, explain the research questions you would like to pursue and how your background connects to this direction.
